Yea has dedicated her life to helping people become the best versions of themselves. She has spent over 25 years coaching, mentoring, teaching, and supporting students and adults in a variety of settings, from elementary schools to college campuses.
Yea is the Associate Director of Learning Services at Marin Academy. Previously, she was Associate Director of the learning strategies department at the Urban School, and before that she built and managed the first Department of Learning Services at the College Preparatory School. Earlier in her career, Yea served for five years as Co-Director of a pre-freshman program at the University of Pennsylvania, where she coached students in executive functioning skills and taught undergraduate courses in sociology. |
Within the schools where she has worked, Yea has served on admissions committees — conducting interviews, reviewing applications, and participating in admissions decisions at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She also serves as an alumni admissions interviewer for Georgetown University.
Through her leadership roles in Learning Services, Yea has extensive experience advising parents and supporting students with diagnosed learning differences — interpreting and summarizing educational and neuropsychological evaluations, creating individual learning plans, and applying for accommodations through the College Board and ACT. She also consults with school administrators on AI protocols, curriculum, assessments, admissions, enrollment, and learning services.
Yea collaborates with her husband Jai, Founder of LifeWorks Learning Center, which specializes in academic mentoring, tutoring, test prep, and transition to college work, as well as coaching for parents. Yea and Jai live in Marin with their two children.
